Seder Salt
Why is this salt different than all other salt?
Seder Salt
As parents and educators, we are always trying to find new ways to make the Passover Seder new and exciting. One way that has been proven time and again is the introduction of symbolic props. We have found a new item to add wonder and meaningful symbolism to your Seder; Seder Salt is a flake salt harvested from the Mediterranean Sea that naturally forms in the shape of pyramids.
Seder Salt
Seder preparation in our home begins with our children picking out the perfect pyramids. We pour about one tablespoon of Seder Salt pyramids into 1/3 cup of water. As the seder progresses, the salt pyramids, these signs of our oppression in Egypt, dissolve. This salt water reminds us of the tears our ancestors shed as slaves and into it we dip our green vegetables, potatoes or even bananas. Yup, some people do that!
Seder Salt
In addition to increasing the “Mah Nishtana” factor at the seder, Seder Salt is great on matzah. Unlike traditional table salts, which slide off the matzah, the texture and shape of Seder Salt make it more likely to stay on your matzah. Seder Salt is also wonderful as a finishing flake salt on salads, appetizers, and entrees. In fact, we use it all year long.
